About The Vegetables
We have loved vegetables for some time now. We like them because you get anything stranger than vegetables. I mean, sprouts, how funny can you get? We also love Steps. We've liked them since 5678 came out and as time has gone by our love for them has snowballed
We weren't allowed to get tickets for the Next Step Tour, so when we found out that Steps were going to be at the Smash Hits Poll Winners' Party we knew we had to go. Especially as we had already begun to plan the vegetables! We spent weeks drawing plans and working out the best way to make them. Originally we were going to make clothes but we decided it would be too difficult. In the end we only did hair and faces
About a week before we went, we did a practice run. We weren't sure of all the vegetables we wanted to use so we just used anything that we found in the kitchen. We realised that spuds weren't going to work (too ugly) We found out that there wasn't enough pipe-cleaners. There was a major shortage of red ones which we were using for the mouths and Lisa's hair. We discovered that the best way to attach the eyes was with Blu-tac and the hair and mouths by pushing them into holes made with knitting needles
We went shopping for more pipe cleaners. We also went hunting for a box to put them in, sparkly stuff to line it with, card for the Steps logo on the top of the box and most importantly, the vegetables. We finally decided on a carrot for Lisa, a parsnip for H, a sweetcorn for Claire, a courgette for Lee and celery for Faye. We spent hours making them and were very pleased with the results
On the day Loopy got up really late. We got to the venue just as it was about to start. When Steps came on Jelly cried with joy! It was such a joyous occasion! Patch enjoyed seeing S Club Beans and Texas, although he was disappointed that they didn't sing his favourite song, Black Eyed Beans
When it finished, we hunted around for somene to give the vegetables to. We kept on showing people what was in the box! No-one working there seemed to know what to do with them. Our luck changed when we went and asked the man who was working on the gate between the audience and backstage. He said he couldn't take them because he had to stay there but he'd help us find someone who could. There were a few other girls waiting there trying to get him to let them backstage. They were being cheeky spuds! While we were waiting 5ive walked past. People screamed at them and a crowd gathered but they just walked past in a glum-glum. The old people working there kept on trying to chuck everyone out. The man told us to look out for someone with a red pass who'd be able to take them for us. We saw a man who had one. He had a walkie-talkie microphone thing on his ned and he said he could give the vegetables to Steps!
That was the last we saw of the vegetables. Now we need your help. We know Steps got them, now we want to know what they thought of them and what they did with them. We want you to tell us if the vegetables are ever mentioned in any interviews. You can increase the chances of this by asking them yourselves! Send in questions to magazines or phone up TV and radio shows. Whatever! If you are ever lucky enough to meet Steps, tell them that you heard about the vegetables and let us know what they say!
