(3 Nov) Notley Night Training Organier/Planner Steve Cartwright writes -
Thanks to everyone for turning up in such aweful weather. I'm sorry we had to cancel the exercises
and the chatty bit in it all yet it was great that people still seemed keen to have a go at a course.
I hope the decision not to worry about punching was sensible bearing in mind the danger of being too
competitive in the conditions - 'I think that's marked on the map as a path not a lake!'. Alex
attempting to punch his map somewhat destroyed it as the rain seeped in, and I understand some may of
missed the odd control. Glad all seemed to enjoy it and obviously it was kind of Ben to give Julie and
Alex a lift back to Colchester in their car troubles.
The previous evening the park had entertained a ghost walk and as I was setting up I had to put one
of the controls next to an improvised graveyard with tombstones in the midst of some trees ! Gladly,
in case it would of frightened anyone, the Rangers had cleared it by dusk.
